- Upon graduation, he joined Canada Trust in
London, Ontario and progressed through a variety
of trust and estate administration positions in
London and in Windsor (Ontario). In 1961, he
moved to Toronto to direct pension administrative
services. In 1963, he moved to London to head the
team bringing the first computerization into the
company. Over the next 3 years, he re-organized
and built the foundation for the following two
decades of exceptional corporate growth. For the
next 20 years, he assumed ever-increasing
responsibilities for the full range of corporate
functions. His core expertise includes: Strategic
Planning, & Development [Products and
Services]; Strategic Implementation Planning;
Technology Strategy Development; Human Resource
Management & Development; Strategic Product
Management.

- During his tenure at Canada Trust (1950 to 1990),
he established an operational planning system as
well as developed the product management and
modern marketing concepts for Canada Trust. He
coordinated all the technology and systems
planning from mainframes to work stations. He
created Canada Trust's well recognized Institute
of Management Institute and played a significant
role in a number of mergers and acquisitions.

- At retirement, in 1990, Mr. Speake was the
Director of Canada Trust, President of The Canada
Trust Company, Executive Vice President of CT
Financial and Dean of the Canada Trust Management
Institute. From 1980 to 1990, he was the Director
of the Canadian Payments Association.

Recruited, trained and integrated MBA graduates
into the business planning unit as future corporate
resources.Developed an international management
institute to give proprietary and competitive advantage
in managing change. Adapted and developed E-Mail capacity
to provide for electronic committee meetings for
strategic competitive advantage. Had direct executive
responsibility for the introduction and development of
MasterCard credit card services and managing the Canadian
servicing of JCB credit card transactions.
